Surreal Practice Tutorials

This week as a class, we worked on 2 tutorials dealing with surrealism. The 1st one is a landscape of a desert. We altered the color and view of the crackled dirt, and distorted it to make it seem as if we were walking into it. We also added a drop shadow to the street light that is sitting in the middle of nowhere. The most surreal thing about this tutorial is the sky. We added a texture of scratches into the sky as well as a jellyfish nebula; However, to make it as surreal as it could be, we changed the blending options so they blended well with they sky. Secondly, we made an eye in a brick wall. the brick wall consisted of a lot of steps and layers. A couple things we changed and added were, the made the iris of the eye unreal colors to give it that surreal feel, we made the eye as if it were in the wall, and the most interesting part, was that we put a picture of a bridge leading somewhere, into the iris as well. Doing both of these tutorials will help me with my surreal projects for the facts that, it gave me an outlook on what type of work I have to do, the tools and tricks to use in Photoshop, as well as ideas.
